Where else can I explore?

What is that funny game they are playing?

It was raining, cold and dreary.  I decided to explore anyway. This time I decided to go in the opposite direction from my last adventure by way of the streets and not the beach. I walked a very long time and saw lots of houses of all shapes and sizes, campgrounds and even a small sailing school but no village. I decided to press on. I finally found a village. It was so much smaller than ours. It was two blocks long. It did have a post office, a church, a café and a bakery. In front of the church old men threw small silver balls at something. I later learned this game was called boule. I sat on a bench and watched them play. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. They seemed to love to argue over just how close their ball really was to some smaller ball.  They laughed and smiled happy I really enjoyed watching them. After a while I became very hungry.  Since I still did not know how to buy food, I began my journey home. I decided to return by the sea.

I am hungry and need euros!sad

This time I walked past houses right on the path and not behind tall walls. As I continued my walk home I found a snack bar.  Since I had no euros I could not stop for food even though I was very hungry. As my stomach growled loudly, I vowed to find out how to obtain euros.

What is a carrelet?confused

I turned a corner and suddenly discovered a shack in the water on stilts with a large net on it. I found out that it was called a carrelet.  It is used to catch small fish. The carrelet was about 50 yards out in the water and  the incoming tide rushed in to cover its stilts. I sat down on a bench. I was mesmerized by ithypnotized. A man appeared and walked out from the path to the shack by way of a wooden walkway. He lowered the net into the rushing water. After a while he pulled the net up and I could see dozens of small silver fish flopping about in the net. He put them into something. I could not see from my bench where he was putting them. He repeated the process over and over again. I wanted to sit there all day and night but I was very hungry. I continued my walk home thrilled with my new adventure.smug

Can I be adventurous alone?

Let’s go see the world!happy

The next day Fraisette and Pommette were busy with their Mommy and Daddy and I was left to create my own adventures. With my growing confidence, I decided to explore the world outside my door. I found out that I was less than one hundred yards from a beach!  It was rocky and filled with shells, seaweed and trash. It was not sandy. The tide went out for over a mile.

What new adventures can I experience from this bench?thinking

I sat on a bench and watched! Oysters were harvested by driving tractors out over the beach. I was fascinated that the tractors went out so far that they were no longer visible from the shore. I sat for hours and hours and just watched all the machines coming and going. I saw trucks full of oysters, people collecting shells for dinner and people just walking hand-in-hand on the beach. It was hot but the constant breeze made it seem comfortable. I sat until the tide came in.   I was alone on my bench above the beach.sad

New confidencebig grin

Since I knew that no one would be home until very late at night I decided to go for a walk. I picked a direction and continued on the path. I walked past tall walls that protected houses from the sea. I continued hoping for a new adventure.  It appeared! I found a  big sand beach with people. I decided to explore more and found our little town. It was bigger than I had expected.  It had shops, restaurants and even a very small supermarket. I sat on the bench in front of the ice cream store and watched the people. The children licked ice cream cones and smiled.  After enjoying all the children I walked the rest of the town.

This is MY town!big grin

I found the market, several cafés, the post office, the church, and even the train station. I decided that if I ever became very courageous I might go on a train and see beyond my town. That was for another day maybe? I walked home. This time I decided, bravely, to walk home on the street and not by the beach. I walked past several beautiful old homes with gardens. The smell from the flowers was breathtaking. All the smells were so refreshing and new to me.  I floated home. Momy was not home yet so I returned to the headboard and fell asleep.

A day to pondersigh

I awoke again on the headboard the next morning. I decided I must be exhausted since I sleep every night in my Momy’s arms but I wake up on the headboard. I am so sound asleep that I do not even notice when I am put on top of the headboard. I decided to stay home today to rest and sit by my door and think.

Many questions?thinking

I realized that I have many unanswered questions. How do I call Fraisette and Pommette or the Big Brown Bear? How do I get a bear phone? How do I buy food or get euros? I have been eating what is in our refrigerator and just now realized that I might need to buy food if my adventures take me too far away. Maybe I should learn how to pack a picnic? How will I understand any of the signs or speak to anyone I meet? I need that bear phone to call IB and find out all her tricks. She must have so much information after all those years here. I need her to share her knowledge with me so that I can have more exciting adventures.

Is this French television?confused

I decided to watch television.  I watched television on the plane and played with the remote so I thought I was experienced in watching television. I tried to turn on the television.  It was not easy. The remote was in French.  Finally, I succeeded.  The TV had a very small screen; the picture was in black and white, and there were only five channels. It was not very interesting. Many of the shows were either cartoons or American television shows dubbed in French. I did love something they called publicité. These were advertisements. They did not interrupt the show with ads but waited until the show was over and showed all the ads at once. All the ads had scantily dressed beautiful women and it was hard to tell what the ad was trying to sell to you. It was very different from back home where all the commercials seemed to be selling beer and have screaming men. I became bored with the television and decided to go for a walk.

Discovering new ideas

Who is Bartleby?

I learned many things.  I learned about BartlebyBartleby has his own private jet. He flew the Big Brown Bear over to France in his jet. Bartleby is a close friend of the bear family.  He made his initial bear millions writing greeting cards. The sayings in the greeting cards came from all the funny things spoken to and by the bears. Bartleby markets the greeting cards all over the world and makes millions! He only accepts bear money, although recently he has begun to accept Swiss francs.  He loves all the bears and I was assured that he loves brellies, toohappy  One day I hope to ride in the Bear Plane and meet Bartlebybig grin

Why don’t you want to travel and see the world?confused

I started to learn about traveling. Fraisette and Pommette do not travel, although they said they briefly lived in Paris at their parents’ other home. They told me that they have become very French and are happy to stay near family and friends and just enjoy life. I could understand this but “I want to travel the world like IB did!” I said loudly.  They all said that traveling the world can be very exciting but it could also become exhausting. I told them all that if I became tired I would just close the zipper on my bag and sleep. They giggled big grin They said that the people were different; the food was different; the weather was different and everything would seem different all over the world. They all said we would talk again about traveling in a year when I returned to France. I agreed.

Fraisette and Pommette packed up the rest of the picnic. There wasn’t much left since I ate heartilyblushing.  They gave me the leftovers and I smiled broadlybig grin  I said, “Thank you” and they explained that in France I could say “merci.” I learned my first French wordhappy

Noirmoutier has a bridge?

We could not return home by way of the Gois so we were going to have to cross the bridge. The Gois was now underwater and not passable. They said that the bridge was free and that it would take about 30 minutes longer to arrive back home. I was prepared for a new adventure. We passed through several of the towns of Noirmoutier and arrived at the bridge. The bridge was not very long but you could see beaches and a ferry from it. We went through several towns on the Continent before we arrived home.

Alone again but happyhappy

For me, we arrived home much too soon. I would now be alone by my window. After giving each other four kisses, I was alone in my chair. I felt a little sad sad but I had had such a wonderful day that I was also very happy. Before my Momy arrived home I returned to my place in the bedroom on top of the headboard.  I fell asleep quickly.

Noirmoutier

 What are they doing?confused

We drove past lots of parked campers on our way to the main road. We saw fields on both sides. People were stooped over taking something small out of the ground. I asked the bears what these people were doing. They explained to me that Noirmoutier was famous for “La Bonnette”. This was the most expensive potato in the world. Only 100 tons are harvested annually and they cost about $45 per pound. They are hand-harvested because of the way their tubers are attached. Their unique flavor is attributed to the soil being fertilized by seaweed. They taste earthy and salty. I want to taste them. I was assured that I would taste them before I returned home to the States.

What is salt?confused

Further on we passed these flat pieces of land where people seemed to be pushing long rakes. I found out that these were salt flats and that Noirmoutier was also famous for sea salt. Fleur de Sel was the most expensive kind of sea salt because it is hand-harvested by workers who scrape only the top layer of salt before it sinks to the bottom of large saltpans. Fleur de Sel is often slightly grey due to the sand collected in the process of harvesting the salt from the pans. On occasion it can have a slight pink tint. Many people prefer Guérande sea salt to Noirmoutier sea salt. Noirmoutier sea salt has less moisture and a lighter body. I hope we visit Guérande.

Too much sand and wind

We continued on through the four towns of Noirmoutier:  Barbâtre, L’Épine, la Guérinière, and Noirmoutier-en-Île. Each one was different from the other. Noirmoutier-en-Île has the castle and the aquarium. The other three tpwns are places where people live or camp. There were beaches, restaurants, marinas and boats. I really like this island,  except for all the sand I had all over me from the wind. We walked the beaches and we looked in the shops. Life is good.big grin

 Time to eat!happy

We returned to the bear bus and decided it was time to eat. I was hoping for the famous potatoes. It was early May and the bears explained to me that these potatoes were just beginning to be harvested. I would have some next week.  They told me to be patient. They had packed a picnic. They were all excited about having a picnic on this nice secluded beach they all knew. I asked shyly, blushing  “What is a picnic?”  They explained that a picnic is an outdoor meal in a beautiful peaceful setting. They had brought a blanket for us to sit on as well as food and wine. They explained that in France people drank wine in moderation with their meal. I was all excited to experience new adventures and eat and drink different things. We sat on the blanket and looked out at the water. Fraisette and Pommette removed all the food from the picnic basket.

My first French picnicbig grin

We ate bread, pâté, cheese and fruit. We also drank some red wine.  Since I did not know what any of the food was, they explained patiently to me what each thing was. They told me to try a little of each to see if or what I liked. I liked it ALL.  It was so new and different. They all laughed at how excited and heartily I ate. We sat there for a very long time. French people enjoy their meals and savor their food. We all talked but I did not have a lot to say since everything was so new to meblushing

My first French road trip

On the way to Noirmoutier!big grin

They asked me what I wanted to see first. I told them something unique to our region and memorable. After a few minutes of discussion we left the driveway and headed south. We were going to Noirmoutier. They explain that it was an island. You could cross to the island by a bridge or something called the Gois. I knew what a bridge was because we had crossed one at Nantes when we were coming to our apartment. That bridge crossed the Loire River. I did not know what a Gois was.

So this is the REAL France!

We drove for about 45 minutes. It was the first time that  I saw several small French towns. They all had a pizzeria and a phone. I saw churches, gas stations, restaurants and so many new things. The signs on the stores were all in French so sometimes I was not even sure what the stores were. I finally saw my first French supermarket. It had a gas station. I had never seen a supermarket with a gas station back home.

Why is THIS sign so important?confused

We pulled off the road into a parking lot by some big sign. It had timetables and it was in more than twelve numbers.  I was only familiar with the time of the day being from one to twelve. I have a great view of a clock from my home on the headboard.  The bears explained that in France after twelve (noon in the United States) was thirteen hundred. It was something called military time. The bears all studied this timetable a very long time. They returned to the bear bus and announced that we could soon go to Noirmoutier by the Gois.

What is theGois?thinking

I finally said,  “What is the Gois?”  They said the Gois is formally called the Passage De Gois. It is a natural periodically flooded passage leading from the island of Noirmoutier to Beauvior-sur-Mer. It is flooded twice a day. Were we going to swim across the Gois? They all laughed. No they said we were within the two-hour time limit that would allow the bear bus to safely cross the Gois without sinking or floating away. My eyes grew BIG. What an experience this would be. What stories I would have to tell all the bears in the bear’s room back home.

So this is THE Gois surprise

We arrived at the Gois. The road was made of stones and bumpy.  I learned that the stones were from the Roman era. Until the bridge was built this was the only way that the people who lived on the island could get to what they all called the continent.

What are ALL these people doing?confused

On each side of this very narrow road I saw people bent over collecting things. The bears said that they were collecting various kinds of shells, which are edible and that people sold or ate them. There were also these tall towers on the side of the road.  These towers were for the people who did not believe the signs that warned you in several languages that it was very dangerous to attempt to cross the Gois except during the posted times. These towers were for people to climb to escape the rushing tide and to prevent them from drowning. From these towers, the people could see their cars sink under the water. The Gois went on for what seemed like forever but it is really only 4.5 kilometers long. It was hard for the Big Brown Bear to drive. The road was not built for modern size cars or buses; the stones were slippery from the water; people were walking and riding bikes and cars were parked partially on the road. We made it safely to the other side. We were now officially in Noirmoutierhappy

Making friends

Getting to know my new friends

My new friends told me all about France! They explained how the food was different, the stores were closed much of the time, people spent a very long time eating and that everyone spoke French and used euros for money.  I asked if they were dirty and they giggled. They said French people call Americans hygienic. They also told me that they had a special bear phone and they often spoke to IB and all the other bears back home.

What!!!

I said ALL the other bears and not just Fluff Bear? They explained that downstairs in my house back home there was a room, called the bear’s room, full of bears of all shapes, sizes and colors. They were so surprised that I had never been downstairs. I looked at them very sheepishly and said that until this trip I did not have a lot of confidence in myself and I never ventured very far but that I was gaining confidence every day. We stayed for lunch and dinner and had a wonderful day.

What IS a bear bus and who drives it?

The bears said they would visit me in the bear bus and take me on adventures. I did not quite understand how this would all work but they assured me they would see me very soon.

The next day when I was finally alone in the apartment, I went to my chair by the door and sat in the beautiful sunlight. A vehicle appeared in the driveway. It was the bear bus. The Big Brown Bear, who I was told lives with me downstairs in the United States, came over to France to take all of us on adventures this May. The bear bus was invisible to humans.

Now I understand the movie on the plane

I had seen on the screen on the plane that things could become invisible if covered with a special cloak but I did not believe it. I was about to see that it was true. I met The Big Brown Bear at the door. She was BIG and fuzzy and Pommette and Fraisette said an excellent driver. People in France have different traffic rules in circles, all the directions and signs are in French, distances and speeds are measured in kilometers and the speed limits are very high by American standards. I was glad our driver was very experienced.  We all boarded the bear bus after our four kisseskiss  I was beginning to feel very French

We REALLY are here

Is this the WHOLE apartment?surprise

When I woke up I was alone and the bed was made. I was back on top of the headboard, my daytime home. It was colder than it was at home and there was no central heating. I could see a heater but I could not understand how to turn it on since the dial had French on it. I decided not to try to turn it on until I observed someone else doing it. I was not alone for long. My Momy returned with food from the market. She did not stay very long but I was happy just to see someone who spoke English. She left and I was alone again. I decided to explore the apartment. I was surprised by the size. IB had explained to me that her friends in France told her she lived in a big apartment. She chuckled.big grin Now I know why. There was no place to sit except six dining chairs and they were not comfortable.

My new daytime home!

I did find a folding camp chair by the door that my Momy had brought from home. I sat in it. It was comfortable. I decided that this would be my new home during the day. I could look out the door and see the world.big grin

My Momy returned with more food after several hours . After a little while she went to sleep. I learned it was jet lag. Now I know why I slept so much and was so tired. France was 6 hours ahead of us and we lost a night. I slept also.

My FIRST French adventure!happy

The first few days were the same, getting groceries and doing errands. Then one day I was put into a bag, not my usual black bag but a soft red bag with a zipper. I figured here comes another adventure. I was right. We drove for about 30 minutes on a highway.  I was now an expert in opening all kinds of zippers, so I could see out of the window. We parked the car in front of a nice house and a nice older French couple greeted us with lots of kisses. Four kisses I learned in our region of France. They asked for IB. My Momy explained that IB was home but that she brought Brellie. I was taken out of the bag and had such a warm hug from the lady that I melted in her arms.

My new French friendsbig grin

I was taken into the house and introduced to Pommette_Pommette_ and Fraisette_Fraisette_two bears. They spoke English! They explained that they were from the United States and presents to the nice French couple. The French couple love bears. The couple had visited us in the United States twice. I vaguely remembered them. The bears also said that they were the people on the web cam every week. I could see the computer from my home in the den and I knew that French people were on the camera, so I felt that I already knew them.big grin

Getting to our French home

So is THIS France?

We claimed all of our luggage and proceeded through customs. We found a special phone to call for our car.  We waited outside for the van that took us to our car. It was cold and dreary. We finally arrived at our car. It was a nice shiny new grey car with red plates. Most of the bags went into the trunk but I got to ride in the back seat and look out of the window. I felt very lucky.

The car had little fuel in it so we stopped at the first gas station we saw. It was small, dirty and had gasoline types I had never heard of. We filled the car with something called gazole. It is the French diesel and it is cheaper than essence, which is American regular gas. We continued our trip. I found out that we would be in the car at least 5 to 6 hours depending on the traffic on the peripherique in Paris.

Time to get comfortable for the car ridethinking

I settled into my bag and decided to enjoy this very long car trip. The first thing I noticed was that motorcycles darted in and out between cars and also rode in between two cars but never in any lane. This frightenednail biting me. They were so close to my window that I could see the face of the rider. The car was very small. After about an hour I got used to this madness especially since our car had not gone very far. The traffic moved very slowly. After a long time, we left Paris and this madness. We were out on the open road. Instead of old dark dirty buildings, there were fields and fields of yellow stuff. I later found out that it was rapeseed called canola seed in the United States. It was so beautiful. I had never seen so many miles of fields and farms. There were no people. We stopped several times to rest and buy food. The rest stops were always noisy, crowded and dirty. I began to think France was dirty.

We FINALLY arrivebig grin

After six long exciting hours we arrived in a very small quaint French village. We pulled into a very narrow tight driveway made of crushed stone.  The door to the house was already open and the luggage was carried inside. This must be where we will be staying for May I thought. It was very, very small! It had large orange flowered wallpaper everywhere including the ceiling in the bedroom. The only room besides the bathroom and bedroom was smaller than my bedroom in the United States. This room had a stove, sink, table, television and a refrigerator. The bed was made and the luggage was placed on it and unpacked. I could see by how quickly and smoothly this was accomplished that this was routine. I was placed on a shelf above the bed. I found  out very shortly why I was on a shelf and not on the bed. A small white dog suddenly appeared. The dog belongs to the people upstairs. My Momy called them MAMAN and PAPA. I was glad to be up high where the dog could not reach me.

It is late and I am tiredyawn

I was alone for a while and I could see them eating dinner. It was still very light outside but since I did not know what time it was this did not surprise me. I later found out that in this part of France in May it was light for many more hours than at home. I liked that because I could see things clearly for many more hours.

Soon it was time for bed. I was removed from the shelf and put onto the bed where my Momy hugged me all night. I loved it. I fell asleep quickly since I was so very tired from what seemed like many days of non-stop adventures. I slept soundly for many hours. Even the bright light outside did not wake me up.

Wow what a BIG world

A New Life Beginsbig grin

I was so happy with my new life above the headboard. I had company and a new  perspective on life.  The days went on and my new life introduced me to all kinds of new sights and sounds. One day the level of activity in the room increased and I sensed that I might be on the verge of another exciting new adventure. I was.

IB – So what does April in Paris mean?confused

It was April and both IB and Fluff Bear told me that this meant the annual trip to France for the month of May. We leave for France every year at the end of April and spend all of May in France.  IB explained that I would be going to France this year. My eyes grew wide with wonder and excitement and fright.worried

IB – Please come with me!

I spoke non-stop to IB about what and where was France. She calmly explained it was a country and that it required a long plane ride to arrive there. She also explained that they spoke French and not English. I was scared.worried How would I communicate with them? Did they have bears or brellies there? She assured me that she made wonderful friends there and that they would all love me too. I felt a little better but I was still scared.worried

Must we FLY there?

I  was washed again and put gently into the black bag. I did peek out of the bag  and saw all the people and planes. It was evening. This time I had more confidence and I left the zipper to the bag slightly ajar so that I could see everything all the time. It was bright and busy with hundreds of people with bags of luggage moving faster than I had ever seen anyone move. My eyes got bigger and BIGGER as I looked at all these new things happening in front of my eyes. IB was right; this really was to be a BIG adventure!

WHAT new adventure is this?happy

We stood in a long line with people taking off their shoes and coats. All the people walked through a doorframe and sometimes a loud sound was made and the people had to empty their pockets and walk through the doorframe again. I was lucky; I stayed inside my nice warm bag and moved along on a conveyor belt. The conveyor belt did stop and some light was flashed on the bag but then the bag moved along and the bag and I were retrieved from the conveyor belt.

My FIRST EVER TRAIN ride!

We proceeded to a square box filled with people sitting and standing. I later found out this was a people mover and it  brought us to the place where the planes took off. We arrived at our terminal. We had to arrive very early because our flight was going outside the United States. Since we were flying international first class, whatever that means, we went to a special lounge with food and drink.

Look at all the food and drinks!

I did not leave the cabin on the cruise and was too afraid to look out of my bag on my plane trip to and from the cruise, so this was the first time I saw people, food or drink.

I lived in either a den or a bedroom and they did not have any food in either of them. The lounge had big chairs and lots of drinks and food and people cleaned up after you. After what seemed to me forever, a nice lady came by to tell us it was time to go to our plane. We took our luggage and walked a long way to a line that allowed us to board the plane.

Will I get LOST on THIS plane?

The plane was much bigger than the plane for the cruise. All the people were pushing and talking loudly. We had a special line and entered quickly. The lady on the plane, a flight attendant, took all of our bags and put them in a big box that closed over our seat. I did not go in that big box. I was put on a small table. Wow! What a sight! There were huge chairs, wide aisles and the flight attendants helped everyone with their bags and coats.

How did they know I was hungry?!surprise

As we sat in our chair, called a seat on a plane, a flight attendant brought us a drink and mixed nuts. I love nuts. I sneaked some. They were hot and tasty. I was happy. I thought, How much better can this trip become?

The plane moved forward and then went up at an angle. I remembered from the cruise that this meant we had left the ground. This time I was determined not to go to sleep. It was much noisier than I had remembered but I was inside a bag  and under a seat on my last trip. When the plane was level we were served drinks and hot nuts again. I ate more nuts. After all this even more food and drinks were served. This went on for a long time. I did not mind because I saw all kinds of new and interesting things. There was a small screen in front of the seat that played, I was told, movies and things. They were interesting and in English but I was more excited by the things that were happening all around me. Finally the food and drink service was completed and the lights went out.

Time to sleep. Can I?sleepy

To my amazement the seat turned into a bed!  It even had a big blanket and a pillow. Wow! I did not want to – but I fell asleep.  I had had too much excitement and I knew I still had a very long and exciting day ahead of me filled with new experiences.

I awoke when my bed started to turn into a seat again. I figured it was time for the plane to land – but I was wrong.

We get to eat again!big grin

Another meal! It was called breakfast. Since I never really knew what people ate or when they ate, I did not think it was unusual to eat so many meals in such a short time. I later found out that France is six hours ahead of the United States and that it was now morning. I tried some fruit. I liked it. After the meal, the flight attendant came around to clean up the plane and to hand people their coats. Then I knew it really was time to land. The big box overhead opened and I went back into my black bag. I was happy since I was a little worried that I would be forgotten or lost in that big blanket. I fell asleep.

IB – When do I get MY passport?

The plane landed and everything including my black bag was removed from the big box.  I opened the zipper. We were on moving ground. They are called moving sidewalks. We stood in a long line for something called immigration. I found out this is where passports are checked. Now I knew why they teased IB about having an honorary passport. We went through the line and to a place where we found the rest of our luggage.

HELP! I cannot understand anything!worried

There were lots and lots of people speaking gibberish.  Oh, they must be speaking French, I suddenly realized. IB, I wanted to shout, I have a problem. I cannot understand ANYTHING.

Starting the Journey of Life

Who Am I?thinking

Hi I am Brellie. You might wonder how I came to write this blog or have these wonderful traveling experiences. It all began many years ago.thinking I am a stuffed animal who was homeless. For several months I was abandoned and placed on a shelf in a thrift store for sale. For what seemed like forever no one purchased me or even touched me. Finally I was on sale for 10 cents. Someone purchased me.Suddenly  I lived on top of a bookshelf overlooking a desk with a computer on it. I was not lonely anymore.

Boy am I lucky!big grin

I began traveling by mistake when a stuffed animal was cut open at an airport after 9-11. Innocent Bear (IB to all) was the stuffed animal that traveled all over the world. That incident changed all that forever. IB traveled to Hawaii, the South Pacific and France so many times that immigration offered her an honorary passport.  After the 9-11 incident IB retired from traveling. I am not sure why but she probably did not want her stuffing pulled out. I was excited to see the world beyond the den.

My first travel adventureconfused

The world beyond the den was huge. I first went on something everyone said was a cruise. I did not even know what a cruise was. I was given a bath and then was gently put into a black bag. I peeked out to see lots of people and planes. Since I did not know what a cruise was I thought this is a cruise.  We boarded a plane and I could see lots of people then all of a sudden we went up into the air at an angle. Wow I thought this is great. The flight was nice and being in a bag under a seat was so interesting. The bag moved and all of a sudden we were back in a place with lots of people and planes. I thought we were going home. I went to sleep.

Where am I?confused

I woke up to find myself in a strange room and on a strange bed. I could see water but no land. I was alone in this strange room and wondered what would happen next. A strange man came into the room and gently moved me to a chair as he turned down the bed. After doing some other things in the room (I later found out this room was called a cabin) he returned me to the bed and left. It became dark and I fell asleep again. I was very tired from my exciting day.

IB look what you are missing!

The cruise was exciting beyond my dreams. We went to different places (called ports I learned) and saw all kinds of people dressed in all kinds of colorful clothing. As the cruise went on I became adventuresome and went out on the balcony of the room. I only went out there when we were in port because I was afraid that when the ship was moving I might fall or be blown overboard. It was very hot out there. The view was different from anything I experienced in that dark den. I was happy.happy

Where am I and who are these new friends?confused

I did not know at the time but this was only the beginning of my adventures. After returning home I found out my new home was on top of the headboard in the master bedroom. IB slept on the bed and I shared the headboard with another stuffed animal called Fluff Bear. Fluff Bear told me she had been there awhile and had been a present from some friends. She was too big to travel!  She was a little large and very nice and friendly. We became instant friends. I  realized that I was very different from all the other stuffed animals. I was not a bear.surprise
